Loaded question

I dont condone such behavior, but on mine if i ever wanted the wheel off the ground I would make sure that I was , say exiting the corner at more or less 10,000 rpm. Once straightened up and headed in an OSHA and DOT approved direction i would sit upright with upper body relaxed, and in one swift series of motions quickly chop the throttle and whack it wide open. Making sure you are sitting as far back as possible helps...Not that I would Know or approve..

Pics please.

From what I've heard second gear is the one to do power wheelies in.

How fast do you want to be going? The YZF is geared pretty tall. Its pretty easy to clutch it up in 2nd but doubtful that it would come up on just throttle.

If wheelies are your gig go with 14 tooth Counter shaft and a custom (sprocket specialist) 51+ tooth rear. Running 16-18 PSI out back will help keep you hooked up and driving rather than spinning.

I wouldn't ride on 18 psi commuting, but that's one way to do it.

My second gear is out, but some people hear have said that if you chop it wide open you can lift it up in second (midrange to lower midrange RPM i think)

cruising at around 7-8000 rpm in second gear and quickly downshifting and cracking the throttle will stand mine up no problem. Ive gotten it to do it the same way only from 3rd to 2nd but its not as consistent.

Hm... first gear is too scary fast for me to get anywhere close to full throttle

I guess my timidness is because before my work on it over this past winter, it was running on its original chain and 8 year old tires.

i havent actually tried any wheelies yet, but if im getting on it hard i can bring the front up about 6in for about 10 feet shifting from 1st to 2nd.

at the drag strip the other week i got the front to come up going into 3rd a few times. one time off the line i fully dumped the clutch (instead dragging it out) and it went 12 o'clock on me, and me wanting to catch the other bike imediatly did it again. The front would come up about every pass. I was coming off the line at about 4-5k rpms, but I'm not sure where it was at when I did the wheelie.
