Yeah, like wjm said, the last 3 years have been pretty busy for me....finishing my Masters degree/thesis, moving across the county starting a new job, buying a house etc. plus I've got 6 other motorcycles and 12ish other cars, so sometimes projects get put on the back burner depending on what else I'm working on. For instance I just swapped a turbo diesel in my 1984 diesel rabbit....it should have been a weekend job, but it took me a while to source the parts. The EFI wasn't much different....most of the time was spent researching what would work with what. After I had the parts fabricated/modified/collected it only took a weekend or two to actually install them and get the bike running. If you use what I did as a "recipe" you could get it done much faster, depending on your budget. I was a college student when I started it so thats also why it took sometime.
Yeah, all the EFI parts will work just fine with the FZR crank swap....the only difference is how the FZR crank's ignition signal works, but that just a matter of using the FZR ICU or making the megasquirt read it....I'm working on the latter.
Not only would I do it again, but I will DEFINITELY do it again!!! I'm not sure if I'll do another motorcycle next (probably my YZF750) or a car/truck, but yeah, I LOVE EFI....I just like the technology. I don't know if its really worth all the extra effort over a good set of properly tuned carbs, but thats not why I did it, it was just for fun and to prove to myself that I could.
