My father and I were riding a route he rides fairly often but it was my first time on it. It was a pretty hard right at about 50 to 60 mph. It seemed like I was going in too hot (even tho my dad made it just fine) so I tried to brake while turning thru, but it just didn't seem to work for me... I went wide and got to the outside of the road and went down in the soft soil. Broke the front brake lever (a pain considering I was within a mile of the tenneessee border), bent the front stay really well, rubbed my knee a bit, and banged up my right elbow really bad... Not bad pain wise, but I cant get my arm anywhere close to fully bend or fully extended. I'm off of work til Monday night so I should be good enough by then.

Bummer. For now I suggest soaking in hot water and epsom salts. Hopefully its just scrapes and bruises.

Later I suggest a good track school to work out the little issues that keep putting you on your head. I will be coaching /control riding at a track day in April and would be happy to help you out.

Sorry to hear. Glad you walked away though. Sounds like target fixation to me. Look where you want to go. :)

thats an ouchie, hows your condition now?

healing up?

things happen, no body died best to move on. maybe school like bpro says maybe not. either way track riding is fun.

while i wont argue that track school makes you a better overall rider, (some people dont think so and i can see thier point but dont agree) its not like a magical get our of accidencts liecese nothing in this world is.

Day after status: getting more pain free movement back in the elbow and can lift my upper arm to and slightly past horizontal with minimal pain... another day and night's rest should get me close to good.

I'd love to attend a race/track school, or even merely a track day (I'm like two hours away from barber), but it's not really in the financial future: part time hours are running thin this time of the year, and between the bills and the bike, I just barely have enough money to pay or a class or two each semester (700 bucks a class, plus a $120 parking pass each year at UAH, damn economy).

It wasn't target fixation, but more just not forcing myself to turn in more. I got on the brakes (didn't lock up) and that just killed my line (or atleast my confidence in being able to hold my line). I considered myself kind of experienced and I've been freaked out by and pushed through sharp turns before, but this one just got to me. I guess because it was my first time through this route and there was a rock wall on the inside of the turn, my brain just wouldn't commit to the corner and turn in propperly. My dad rides an 02 SV650, so i'm sure I could have handled the turn because neither of us were leaned over that far (I probably should have been to fix my line, but it wasn't that fast of a corner).
