A cool website I came across. Thought I would share with everyone. Sit back grab a towel to wipe up your drool and enjoy the showcase.

Great site, but I can't fathom the idea of owning a gorgeous new bike like the 2002 Ducati (with 3 miles on the odometer) and not riding it.

The YB6 and 8 as well.

a friend of mine has a YB8e with fuel injection which held the distinction of the lightest/most powerful production motorcycle until the introduction of the R1.

Cool Machines.

The YB11 was built with a YZF1000 motor which is very similar to a FZR1000

The YB5 was an FZR600 powered machine.

I wonder who thought it was a good idea to introduce the Bimota guys to Ducati... someone needs to be flogged.

the TAmburini. part of bimoTA is Massimo Tamburini, the guy who designed the Ducati 916 among others...including the MV agusta.

I like the DB series myself, especially the Desmodue air cool bikes, but If I were to own a Bimota it would have to be the SB8.

Scot was using water cooling back in the 20's...Telescopic forks date to the same time frame...Disc brakes were available in the 30's....

Engineering wise air cooling is an elegant solution to cooling the motor, provided that the design allows for the power requirements to be met. In the case of the 1100cc air cooled Ducati motor, engineers are able to get a reliable 90 hp and 67 ft lbs of torque in a very easily packaged unit. The lowly 695 makes 79hp and 51 ft lbs.

This compares to the YZF600 at appx 88HP and 48ftlbs of torque.

Keep in mind that the ducati weighs less in both cases, has more torque (acceleration) and does not have the complication of water pumps, radiators, or antifreeze...

I'll add the weight of a water pump radiator and antifreeze for the sake of having liquid cooling any day. I'm not a science major, so I could be wrong, but I think water has a higher specific heat index than air... and since overheating is bad for engines, I like to have more than just ambient air for cooling. (Alaska probably doesn't have much of a problem with engines overheating, but I live in Alabama)
